  • Comments Thread For: Rubio Shakes Head at Odlanier Solis TKO Defeat

Trainer Jorge Rubio is shaking his head at Friday's nine round TKO defeat that Olympic gold medal winner Odlanier Solis (22-3, 13KOs) suffered in his rematch with Tony Thompson (39-5, 26 KOs). Solis was severely out of shape, weighing in at 272-pounds for the fight.

Trainer Jorge Rubio, who didn't travel with boxer overseas due to scheduling conflicts, tried to help the Cuban fighter prepare and says there wasn't enough time to get him ready. Solis reportedly trained hard for only a total of 18 days.

Man, Thompson gets another win. Good for him, but I think Solis needs to retire, he doesn't have the dedication it takes to be successful.

True he's wasted his talent, but maybe you can tell us his schedule. You seem to have first hand knowledge. Hey, maybe the guy is a chef at a fancy restaurant, maybe he sells used cars for a side job, or is a librarian. Doubtful you know what he does outside the boxing ring.

He has no other job that's the whole point of my post.

He was way out of shape.

Solis didn't come out for the next round.

Solis was getting worked over, retreating more and more with each round.

Solis needs to get put in with AJ pretty soon and get KTFO.
