HBO Willing to let Quillin onto their network

So they're willing to let Quillin fight against their exclusive network contract fighter. Only thing stopping the fight is Schaeffer..... I guess he's nice and cozy in the undercards

But what about WBO titlist Peter Quillin, who has become a staple of Showtime in recent years? Well, that’s the problem, the little “Cold War” that is plaguing the business. Quillin is aligned with Golden Boy Promotions and adviser Al Haymon, who have been embargoed from the network. HBO Sports Director of Programming Peter Nelson stated, “[HBO] doesn’t rule anybody out.”

“The discussions I’ve had with Peter and HBO at length and we have a long-term commitment to HBO and they’re committed to providing the platform for Gennady. As Peter said, they haven’t ruled anybody out, which means they would approve Quillin at some point. Whether Quillin would get in the ring with him is a different story. There’s a lot of politics in that situation but I strongly believe if Quillin wanted to make the fight, we would discuss it with HBO to approve him as an opponent,” explained Loeffler.

I'm pretty sure Schaeffer will stall and will immediately make Canelo-Quillin next, weather he beats Lara or not.

I just can't see Haymon / Schaeffer / Sho going for it. They have a very tentative stake at MW with Quillin and I can't see them throwing it away (sorry Kid C, but you ain't beating Golovkin) in a marquee fight to build a rival networks star fighter.

Furthermore it's almost starting to look like it maybe a Haymon / SHO business strategy to sabotage major HBO fights, so HBO ought to be asking for cast iron guarantees with a significant financial penalty just in case Quillin should happen to get 'injured' at the last minute, scuttling another GGG date.

In short, I'm pretty much willing to bet this fight will never happen, barring some major political changes in the world of boxing.

Quillen will get in the ring with the winner of Martinez-Cotto on showtime before he gets on HBO against GGG.

Golden boy would never let that happen. I don't know if Quillen even wants it, but if he did its kind of a crappy position for him to be in as he's pretty much waiting for Canelo to move up but first he needs to fight Lara and Cotto. Golden Boy probably wants to protect his name as a pefect middleweight champion until they can cash in with Canelo or even Chavez Jr if he comes over.

Who cares? All Quillin is going to say is some bull**** like "If it it meant to be it is meant to be. I trust my team to make the right decisions and it is my destiny to be one of the best fighters in the sport. I'm happy with my situation at Showtime and I have big things in store for my future. I want to better myself and my community and do what's best for me and my family."

Evidently they sent an offer and HBO said that it's a possibility.

Just interested what he'd say. My guess is it would be so much bigger if they can open it up to bidding, but GGG's team don't want to do open bidding because they're scared
