Setting the record straight on the Stevenson deal for the ignorant!

I keep seeing posters say that it's hbos fault for not matching the showtime offer and they don't blame Stevenson for leaving. The truth is HBO was willing to match the offer but even if HBO matched the showtime offer Stevenson /Haymon weren't willing to guarantee a fight with Kovalev in the fall. Now let me ask u. Who on earth would make that investment for a build up fight? HBO invested heavily all of last year Into making both Kovalev and Stevenson into stars and on a collision course to a lhw showdown.

Here's a excerpt from the yahoo article:

HBO Sports executives are scurrying trying to figure out what happened and trying desperately to enhance a non-PPV schedule that looks fairly barren. An HBO source said Haymon asked for 40 percent more than HBO had agreed upon to pay Stevenson. The same source said further than Haymon told the network he would only negotiate a one-fight deal, for Stevenson-Fonfara, and wouldn't talk about a potential bout with Kovalev even if HBO had agreed to the 40-percent increase.

Now ask yourself..... If HBO was willing to match the offer and Stevenson still wasn't willing to to commit to fighting Kovalev in the fall, what does that tell u? And no Stevenson/Hopkins is not a more compelling match up! If I was Kovalev I'd target Pasquale in Canada. That's his best option right now.

I like how adonis is on twitter saying "you a bum, easy fight, call my promoter" yet they had already called the promoter and worked out the deal, and then you bolted like a chicken....

I'm sure Stevenson had something to do with it too.

It's just too bad that we don't have that "fly on the wall" for all these so called "business moves". If so, we would know the truth instead of what they want us to hear.

HBO matching the money didn't mean much because ADonis didn't wan't to be locked in to teh Kovalev fight.

He actually wanted to remain with HBO, which is why he wanted to renegotiate. It's just that HBO wouldn't budge on their stance with Kovalev. And so, Adonis jumped ship to save himself.
