Post Comments Thread For: Donaire’s mouth requests something his fists don’t need

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Good for Nonito Donaire.

Even though the “Filipino Flash” looked comprehensively ordinary for eight rounds against repeat foil Vic Darchinyan on Saturday night in Corpus Christi, he still managed to get all his ducks in a row before the subpar performance really cost him anything substantial.

He woke up the echoes of a banner 2012 in the ninth round, dropping the Australia-based Armenian to his knees with a sweeping left hook and following up with a clever barrage that ultimately prompted referee Laurence Cole to intervene at 2:06 of the session.

Given that two judges had him well behind with only two rounds to go, it was clear the stoppage came just in time to save the fight. And given the commentary spewed by analyst HBO’s Max Kellerman as the bout progressed, it was exactly what was needed to save his street cred, too.

Few would question that it was cause for revelry for an emotionally relieved competitor.

But it wasn’t long before that revelry wrote a check his skills show no evidence he’ll cash.

Upon being asked by Kellerman who’d provide the perfect encore to a second defeat of the awkward “Raging Bull” in six years, Donaire clearly let the amalgam of euphoria, testosterone and concussion get the better of him before issuing a more reasoned reply. [Click Here To Read More]

Are you guys trying to give me an aneurysm from pure shock/surprise? or did you get sick of Nonito's excuses and are throwing him under the bus like everyone else too?

Nothing but truth here. Nonito while a good fighter should not face Rigo again. Arum is smart man will protect him and send him off to fight Champions.

I thought Vic looked really good and they are focusing on how ordinary Donaire looked. Vic was economical and throwing that left accurately and fast. Donaire showed a good chin and no quit.

But Donaire still needs to be more active but he is a counterpuncher at heart.

Too much stock has been put too Rigo with that win. His output was also low and he was starring at the light at one point of the fight.

I see no build up for this fight and don't think it will sell well

Whatever Donaire says, somebody will surely trash him for it. If he says he wants to rematch Rigo, he is "delusional" and "writing a check his skills can't cash". If he mentions possible opponents other than Rigo, he is "scared of Rigo" and "ducking a rematch".

Donaire is one fascinating fighter. It's the second time he has done the impossible. First he ducked a fighter and fought him at the same time, and now he is scared of him and mistakenly believes he can beat him in a rematch at the same time.

Real talk.

Donaire is entering cash out territory. Arum and HBO will use his name to build Walters and if that fails, Lomachenko.

He had a good run though but is the classic example of falling in love with his power.

I knew this bs was coming (article). So before the Darchinyan fight, everyone said, Vic is 37, slow, past his prime, this and that, easy win for Donaire because Nonito prepared well, better weight division for him, reunited with his father, no shoulder injury (all these crappu excuses t o justify Donaire loss to Rigo) And when I said it was going to be a competitve fight, noone believed me. So now, when Vic was clowinng (look at Donaires face) him all 8 rounds with an excellwnt strategy, proving again that the first ko victory was in fact a fluke, boxing press and Hbo commentators excluding Roy Jones, were not talking about Vic succees in dealing with Nonito for the 8 rounds (that Vic whose odds were 9 to 1 against him) but rather how Nonito looked bad and asking why Darchinyan is not throwing many punches ( stupid fuks, Vic told many times before the fight, that hes gonna be patient and counter him).So You know what, STFU.
Respect to Roy Jones for telling the truth during the fightfor praising Vic for his strategy and disagreeing aith stupid Hbo top ranked sponsored commentators.

Simple strategy when fighting Nonito. Just wait and counter.
