  • Eastern Europeans+American trainers=Best fighters ever

Ive always said America due to its history has the best technical coaches. Guys such as Manny stewart, Freddie roach and Jonathan David.

Eastern Europeans are the most naturally Athletically gifted people on the planet imo.

You have Wlad with Manny and Jonathan David with Sergey Kovalev.

Seems to be a deadly mix

Yeah so far that has been the case but it is set to be different soon.

Thing is the super coaches from America who trained the Euro's came from a long line of pro-boxers and coaches that have over a century on the pro scene.

The ex-Soviet states come from a long line of amateur boxers and coaches who's purpose was originally to train the eastern bloc fighters to beat the us in the Olympics.

When they hit the pro circuit there lacked the coaching expertise for the professional polish but now the American coaches have passed away or retired and don't seem to be replaced and a new generation of east euro coaches will be emerging I expect we will see a move to East Euro coaches and fighters in union again.

But I understand what you mean and you are correct. The raw talent of the East Euro's required the polish of slick American coaches to make them great! I agree!

The HBO commentators were commenting on that. Making note of how John David Jackson was a defensive fighter and Kovalev is an offensive fighter.

And how the mix of Jackson training Kovalev is resulting in a murderous puncher who is becoming hard to hit.

good point, john david seems to be a great trainer, certainly his styles gels well with Kovalev, who prob would be to aggressive.

The US and Latin America still has the best boxers P4P in the world. I don't know if the Brits need some sort of ego boost since another one bit the dust last night, but this s**t is getting ridiculous.

              Kovalev is good though.

Yeah, Eastern Europeans are much better suited for fighting than NFL and NBA players that's for sure.

Do you know what natural athleticism is? A lot of eastern european fighters seem to be lacking in speed, reflexes and coordination but they have solid power, discipline and mental toughness for the most part.

It's definitely not a magical combination : Adamek has an american trainer and he arguably lost to Cunningham and Chambers; my boy Sillakh also has an american trainer and he got KO'd by Grachev and then got hurt in one of his non televised tune ups (I'm still rooting for him but he might be done); Provodnikov is trained by Roach and yes you could have scored the Bradley fight in his favor but he's not a great fighter by any stretch of the imagination, it's just that Bradley fought his dumbest fight ever.
