Default How Can I Improve My Punching Endurance?

Does anyone have any first hand experience of what drills/excersises actually improves your punching endurance and the length you can punch full out for.

It's just that I've been doing tons of press-ups, pull ups, dips, situps, rowing, etc.etc. And I'm just not sure, lacking advice, that it is making my punching endurance any better? Can anyone confirm if they do?

Also, does anyone have any drills/excersises that have proven brilliant for improving punching endurance THAT ARENT BAG RELATED. Ofcourse, I do tons of bagwork but I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do at home to improve the length I can punch for.

Pretty confusing I know, If you have any answers dont hesitate.

first, endurance & stanima r the same thing which is energy or how long u can last, so there is no such thing as punch endurance but there is punching power. usaully u r born with punching power & can improve it 2 a certain degree. weights r your best bet....

i think people often forget the obvious
how do you improve anything?
repitition, practice, repitition - assuming you have the knowledge and ability in place to improve.
if you are unsure of your punching technique, talk to your coach.
just practice on the bag 2min on, 1 min off and youll be lasting longer in no time; the answer is the same as getting better at sex, practice

The only way to improver PUNCHING ENDURANCE is to get on the bag and punch, duh. Everybody always looks for the shortcuts, there aren't. When you get on the bag, get tired, don't get into a staring match with it. Try throwing hundreds of punches in a 3 minute round. There are, however, certain ways to help you improve:

1. Shadowbox with weights. Start out wit 3 pounders, do 1 round in the beginning to warm up, then do 2 more without weights.....SPEED and a lot of punches. Sometimes do it after your bag work as a workout, speed and volume. You'll feel a difference withing a few weeks not only in the way the bag sounds, but your endurance will increase too.
2. Proper form. If your doing a lot of arm punching youll get tired quicker. Use your shoulders, and punch with the twist.
3. Loosen up. If your tight your gonna get tired faster. When your loose your exerting less energy and punching harder and faster.
4. Hard work

And get 3 pound weights when your at home, when you get bored, use them.

Above all, don't lose your technique

Thats brilliant, thanks.

And haha, I knew what I meant by PUNCHING ENDURANCE But what I mean is there's a difference in having the stamina to run for 25 miles and the stamina to punch for 12 rounds.. So stamina/endurance doesnt quite cover it.

Well yeah of course. It's the same difference between sparring 12 rounds and hitting the bag for 12 rounds. If you spar a lot and dont hit the bags, when you get on the bags your gonna get tired. If you hit hte bag a lot and don't spar when you spar your gonna be even more tired. You use your muscles in different ways. In order to be the most effective, find an even balance, you must.

I just ordered a SPRI Heavy resistance band (purple) from amazon.com for $9.50 after trying it out at big5sporting goods, if you rate and check I own this item for another SPRI band, then they put the purple heavy resistance as a favorite for you and tomorrow or day after you can buy it for 50cents cheaper in your quick picks. Anyways, I have a cheap resistance band and have been doing all sorts of exercises with the arms and I feel alot faster and stronger when punching the heavy bag. Hope that helps.
