  • Comments Thread For: David Price Confident of Revenge, Lifting His Career Back

Heavyweight David Price is out for revenge against Tony Thompson after admitting his defeat to the American earlier this year gave him sleepless nights and dented his confidence.

The Liverpool-born fighter suffered his first loss in 16 professional bouts after being floored by a right hook to the side of the head from the 41-year-old in the second round of their February fight.

He immediately asked for a re-match and the pair will meet again at the same venue, Liverpool's Echo Arena, on July 6 - Price's 30th birthday.

But it will be a different Price who enters the ring on that night.

He had all that hype and an air of invincibility in the first fight ad he still got KOd. Thompson will have even less respect for him this time around. He's going to lose again. He's going to be much more careful, but it will still be by KO in the mid to late rounds. This guy shouldn't have gone right for the rematch. Needed to rebuild an let Thompson age another year or two.

That would only be apparent to a complete idiot.

Price's chin problems were known as an amateur, ****, he got Bambi legs in his debut for fuck sake. I was in hysterics when ESPN (I think) voted him prospect of the year.

I got Price exacting revenge anyway, mid-late stoppage. He was quite humble in the post-fight interview, which is good to see and he'll be a lot more cautious in the rematch working behind that jab.

He works the body really well for a guy his size but with a chin like his, he can't really exploit it. I can't really remember if Price landed flush on Thompson and haven't seen anything from him about Price's power but I doubt Thompson is going to get reckless. Although, if he were to just walk Price down I think he could have some success. It's worrying how defensively inept he is for a man with such a shaky chin, he reached a good level as an amateur so definitely has a bit about him but it'll be his downfall.

Price was 1/12 to beat Thompson first time around, I really hope the odds favour Thompson or something but I can see 'em being conservative and it being just above evens for both men.

Nothing against Price, but I predict that Thompson will stop him again. The shot that put him down was not some grenade explosion and Thompson has solid whiskers. Thompson by KO again in 5 or less.

David Price will fight more wisely this time and will win by late KO/TKO.

David Price has the worst chin in the entire history of heavyweight prize fighting. It will not hold up.

I got news: Thompson didn't train a lick for the first fight. He was planning on taking the paycheck and laying down.

Then the crowd ticked him off.

                  This time he's training.

Price is gonna have to really prove himself this time.

I've been thinking about this fight and I really think Price will get KO'd again. All he needs to fold is to come up against someone who has enough confidence to throw some punches. It really is lights out when he gets hit flush.

If he somehow beats Thompson, I think he should steer clear of Chisora. Del Boy would murder him.
