Comments Thread For: BScene Staff Predictions: Mayweather vs. Guerrero
The biggest stateside event of the year (to date) is upon us, as unbeaten pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. takes on Robert Guerrero in a scheduled 12-round welterweight battle at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The bout marks Mayweather’s first appearance on Showtime (whose pay-per-view arm carries tonight’s event), after having spent nearly 15 years on rival network HBO. It is also his first ring appearance in exactly 52 weeks, having played this very venue in his competitive unanimous decision win over Miguel Cotto.
Guerrero was feverishly calling out for a Mayweather fight through the first several months of 2012, but was forced to prove his worth as a welterweight. The former 126 lb. and 130 lb. titlist did just that, delivering strong performances in wins over Selcuk Aydin and Andre Berto in the second half of the year, following a 15-month hiatus due to injuries.

Watch Out! 8 to 1 odds are a Vegas dream. Robert makes it to the end, wins a split decision, or something like that, and the money stays in Vegas, with a big payday for the rematch. Everybody loses except Vegas, even Robert will take some sort of beating for his trouble. Just thinking.

The Passion of the Ghost
This Guerrero is something else. He wants to talk all this biblical ****, "he who exalts himself shall be humbled..." how Jesus put him here to humble boxing!
What makes him think he's the Chosen One?
He will get CRUCIFIED by Floyd's Hammer and Nail - his right hand and left hand, respectively - with his face bleeding as if he were wearing a crown of thorns.
In fact, I predict that the self-anointed holy Ghost will regurgitate Bible verses all night. Unfortunately for him, he will be echoing the sayings of Jesus on the cross:
"I thirst!" In between rounds 8 and 9, as he's gasping for air.
In round 10, as he's being pot shot to death, Guerrero will look to the heavens and cry:
"My lord!!! Why have you forsaken me??"
As the grand finale, in round 11, right before succumbing his will to the mastery of Mayweather, Robert will look to Papa Ruben with a defeated face of resignation and scream:
"Father! Into your hand I commend my spirit!!"
And it will be over. By the time of the stoppage, Guerrero will look like Jim Caviezel in the Passion, bleeding from the back and ****. I guarantee it.
The basic reality is this: No man escapes death. And The Ghost will find out the hard way that Floyd is the Grim Reaper of the ring, the Undertaker of boxing.
Floyd Mayweather W11 by way of fistic crucifixion.
