Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, Cabazon, California - Welterweight Michael Islas won a four round unanimous decision over Carlos Sanchez. Islas (1-1) dropped Sanchez with a left-right combination to the head in the first round. Sanchez recovered enough to make Islas work in the second round, landing short, chopping punches as Islas moved forward. After Islas controlled the third round, he punctuated the win by dropping Sanchez with a left hook to the body, right uppercut to the head. Sanchez was able to get before the bell sounded. All three judges scored the bout 40-34 in favor of Islas.
