A lot of people have stated things regarding how Ward would dominate "Calslappy" if they had ever fought. As you mentioned, Ward had a more difficult time than Calzaghe had with a cut on his head against Bika years prior.

I am not one to normally buy into triangle theories but I would think that Ward would have dispatched of Bika in dominating fashion if he were that much better than Calzaghe. Especially when considering Bika was not in his prime and had sustained another loss after the Calzaghe loss.

I think that Calzaghe would have worked Ward over had they fought in their primes (if that were possible) but there are plenty that think the opposite as well.

I thought Ward won pretty handedly. He made a mistake standing and trading but perhaps he wanted to prove he could and still win. If he fought his normal fight, he might have stopped Bika.
