Neither fighter really has much on the resume to deserve a shot at Floyd, but there's just not much out there. Floyd isn't going to fight the likes of Martinez, guys like Bradley and Trout hold no interest, and Pac just got stopped. Canelo is more dangerous than Guerrero due to his size and power, but probably both teams would rather that fight be on the backburner. Canelo has yet to fight a real challenge within his own weight class and the last time he fought a guy with solid boxing skills(undersized Alfonso Gomez) he had massive problems, which doesn't bode well for him with Floyd obviously. Floyd can use Guerrero as a tune-up, Canelo can hopefully fight someone half-decent, and then the match gets made in September in theory.
