blasphemous thread
tyson was bigger than boxing ... boxing needed tyson more than tyson needed boxing, at the end anyway him becoming the first to consolidate all of the different titles before anyone else, when they were all scattered and held by different men, is enough of an achievement to be considered an ATG never mind the unmatched skill, power, speed, athleticism, talent etc. mike was the first and last to conquer all of the belts and titles (in the modern era of the 3 major titles and the lineal title) and become the true undisputed heavyweight champion of the world ... to this day no one has done that ... you'd think Holmes, a guy who is HIGHLY rated on here whom Tyson demolished would've been able to do that ... especially when fighting in the weakest division next to today's youngest heavyweight champion ever at 20 and undisputed champion at 22? Our current champ Wlad was getting KTFO by a journeyman at that age Last edited by TysonBomb; 12-10-2012 at 06:54 PM. |

There aren't 10 Heavyweights in the history of the sport that you can definitively say have had greater career acheivements, a greater resume and have been more dominant over top Heavyweights than Tyson.
There. That was easy. And the Tyson hasn't fought anybody crowd seriously needs to lurk moar. Do your research on some of the fighters Tyson beat during his championship run and you'll see that alot of the fighters he beat had proven, world class pedigrees. And if you look up old Ring/KO magazine and Boxing illustrated articles from the pre-Tyson era, you'll get a glimpse at how highly guys like Pinklon Thomas, Carl Wiliams etc. thought of before Tyson burst onto the scene. Or better yet, just look at Film of guys like Thomas, "the Truth", Tucker etc. (in their non-Tyson fights) and if you understand what you're watching, you'll see that there hasn't been boxers in the Heavyweight division that possessed the degree of talent & skillset that some of these fighters had since that era has come & gone. And Tyson walked thru damn there all of them without barely breaking a sweat. |

Hey BST, this thread pops up every 2 weeks, is there a library to refer people to? I now that young boxing fans think Tyson was the "end it all" freak monster that wants to eat children but it gets old! He fought no bdy on the way up just like all other prospects do but when he stepped up he got beat! He actually quit against Evander. Enough said the guy was terrific as a young kid but as a mature fighter he wasn't that good!
Am I defending him? Or just telling the facts! Ray |
