Post Comments Thread For: Malignaggi on Hatton's KO Defeat, Rematch Crumbling

One of Paulie Malignaggi’s broadcast partners asked him toward the end of Showtime’s telecast Saturday night if he, too, felt Vyacheslav Senchenko’s knockout body blow.

Malignaggi smiled at the figurative suggestion, but blowing a seven-figure payday obviously was no laughing matter at ringside in Manchester, England. The WBA welterweight champion acknowledged after Senchenko’s ninth-round knockout victory over Ricky Hatton that had Hatton won his handlers would’ve promptly begun negotiations for a rematch with the immensely popular British star’s representatives.

Ricky-Paulie is still a close fight IMO, Paulie looked pretty bad in his last outing as well.

Anyway, Malignaggi could still get a good payday fighting the winner of Alexander-Brook. ****, Haymon could probably get Berto a shot at Malignaggis title coming off an L if he wanted.

The way Hatton look and the way he was getting some Ken & Ryu type Shoryuken hang-time when he was going for those left hooks.

Magic Man would have schooled him. And that's quite sad even though I like Paulie.

I know Paulie was pissed though. Missing out on that Hatton payday and revenge.

Default The Racket Squad: The Devil and Ricky Hatton

The 'fans' in Manchester booed the victor.
The 'fans' in Manchester' applauded the over blown pipe dreams of a pride addict who returned to the ring to discard the devil and then promptly inherited a new one.

He looked ancient yesterday night with the ravages of drink and drug etched into his pugilist's mug.
He fought on the fuel of the past for six stanzas and then hit a wall like an old Chevy that accelerated too quickly and was then drained of all fire.

Ricky Hatton is not one of the greats.
He did not enjoy his craft.
It was a chain around his heart, not a talent embraced.

Go in peace Ricky and leave the fight game to men such as Robert Guerrero.
The moral imperative knows how to balance family, craft and pride to assist in vanquishing life's hardships as well as a gifted fighter.

No boxer is bigger than the game and on any given night all self-delusion can be shattered into the mystic.

Ricky Hatton attempted to cheat time and grace.
You can't cheat such prolific elements of the human condition.
Such an effort is usually defined and designed by Defiant Self Absorption

He was neither Ray Leonard nor a Big George.
Life can be one hell of a liver punch and The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter.
Self-knowledge and devout mental preparation are the only remedies for defeat.

And now Ricky Hatton will need to fight the true battle he has been avoiding for three and one half years.

After the recitation of the ten count, this is the only fight that matters.

Maybe not, but he filled a football stadium with fans to watch boxing.

Who gives a **** about boxing now? Are Kell Brook or Amir Khan going to keep the sport so mainstream in the UK? No.

Another fan favourite has been defeated and there aren't many people capable of filling his shoes.

Boxing continues to struggle.
