Assuming all parties go through with this weekend’s headliner in Ciudad Juarez, the super bantamweight bout between Fernando Montiel and Giovanni ‘Caro’ Ruso has quickly developed into a grudge match.
Ruso has taken exception to Montiel’s recent remarks of seeking a future shot at super bantamweight titlist Abner Mares. The request came shortly after Mares’ hard-earned win over Anselmo Moreno earlier this month, all while Montiel still has to worry about Saturday’s affair with Ruso, which airs live on Mexico Televisa.
