By Jake Donovan - Akifumi Shimoda registered his fourth consecutive win with a ninth round stoppage over Hugo Partida on Wednesday evening at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
As has been the case in each of his post-title reign fights, Shimoda was in full control from the opening bell. The flow remained in that direction until it was stopped at 1:14 of round nine. Shimoda now improves to 27-2-1 (12KO); Partida falls to 17-4-2 (15KO) after having won two straight prior to the bout. Both fighters weighed 124 lb, a consistent weight for Shimoda in the past year.
