Negative. It started while sparring for Ward and aggravated by the flying headbutts.

He wouldn't have been cleared by a doctor to fight Froch if his eye was injured. The reality is Froch injured Kessler's eye and put him out of the Super Six.

He was cleared despite the injury. Even fighters blind in one eye passes these medical 'tests'.

The injury has been well documented both here on boxingscene and in television documentaries in my country.

I suggest you check boxingscenes articles from the time where Kessler pulled out.

All I heard was anecdotal evidence, no actual supporting evidence was produced. Feel free to post an assortment of x-rays or MRI scans, in chronological order to back up Kessler's claims.

If you believe Kessler's own claims, you believe Haye's toe injury excuse. Otherwise you're just picking and choosing which boxer's claims you believe so it becomes an exercise in subjectivity.

I don't really care what you heard. The injury is well documented. The television documentary had a camera crew following Kessler to leading specialists in Germany and Denmark so I don't doubt the legitimacy of the injury for a second.

Besides he quit the tournament when he was about to fight Allan Green and a purse of 2½ Million USD. That would have been a certain win and a birth in the s6 semifinal. Do you believe he turned that down so he could sit on the sideline for a year making no money? Of course not. Only ignorants would.

Finally as a show of courtesy, he gave up his WBC title even though he didn't have to. Just to ensure that the s6 maintained some credibility.

Kessler was obviously injured, that's not under scrutiny. It's accepted that's why he left the tournament.

But the evidence clearly shows that it was the injury sustained as a result of the Froch fight which caused Kessler to leave the tournament, and so going back to my original point - who's to say Kessler won't sustain the same or worse damage if he fights Froch again?

There is a high possibility that Kessler gets damaged in much the same way if he fights in his usual style against Froch because the style match up sets up the scenario where Kessler is required to absorb the same sort of punishment.
