Default Remember Bert Whitehurst

I am wondering how Bert Whitehurst died? He was only 49 when he passed away on April 21, 1981. He was one of the few men who went the distance with Sonny Liston--twice! I believe he became a school teacher in the NYC area after he hung up the gloves. Any biographical info, manner of death, etc, would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was curious enough to do a Google search on "Bert Whitehurst death. Didn't find any info, but I did find your post on the first page. Really.
