BoxingScene.com recently caught up with trainer Abel Sanchez whose stable of fighters includes WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21KOs), WBO cruiserweight champion Ola Afolabi and prospect Joel Diaz amongst others.

Golovkin is scheduled to return to the ring on January 19th in New York in a fight televised by HBO. So far Golovkin has had trouble securing an opponent. Golvokin's trainer said that his fighter was willing to move up to the super middleweight division to face hot prospect Edwin "La Bomba" Rodriguez (22-0, 15KOs) but according to Sanchez, the Dominican's team turned down the fight.

Unless Golovkin gets an big name American promoter the russion ain't getting any marquee fights in the US. Boxing is a moneygame now between the promoters and is not about titles. Golovkin will continue to be shut out until he signs on with an Arum or GBP or Goosen. That's the boxing business. Commies.

Both Golovkin and Carlos Molina have struggled to get the fights they deserve, maybe they could face each other.

Molina's got a few fights but he's just been on the wrong end of bullsh*t decisions.

Should have got the W against Lara and the bullsh*t DQ against Kirkland.

This is sad but at the same time I'm not understanding Golovkin's management, Rodriguez is a huge SMW, the size difference is overwhelming, either GGG is that good or extremely delusional.

i can almost garantee i know more about rodriguez than anybody on this forum, as i watched him come up from literally his first few pro fights when he was a local attraction

golovkin would knock him out, especially if he took the risks to win. he's too easy to hit. all he's got is length on golovkin. usually a bigger man has a better punch and chin, but golovkin has him covered by a country mile

if he cant use the length to the degree that it will win him the fight he'll get stopped.

rodriguez has a terrific manager (larry army, a local attorney,) and a great promotor in dibella. they want to fight somebody like kelly pavlik. higher reward in terms of the esteem (and check,) lower risk in terms of the danger, as pavlik is nothign but a puncher, and golovkin is a puncher with most of the fixings.

Actually, give it to Jermaine Taylor. Lets get his career over with. It's a title shot like he wanted, and a main event billing!
