I don't know much about classical music but I love listening to this piece. I don't know why they call it Moonlight Sonata, that makes it seem like it's romantic or something. For me it sounds like someone has died or is dying.
When I listen to it I think of an old man, who has lived a long life full of memories and people who are now no longer around. He is alone in his home, it's dilapidated and he's lying down on his bed. His mind thinks about when he was young and strong, vibrant and full of life. He catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror next to his dresser and sees the gray hair and wrinkles in his weather beaten face. It brings him back to the present. He's the last one of his friends and family, he is alone and he is dying.
I don't know if any of you do the same thing, where you hear a piece of music and an entire story or image pops in your head. I don't think this piece is romantic at all but sad, in a beautiful way.
Its a beautiful piece. To me its contrasting, though solemn it makes me feel at ease. The best way I can describe would be death....a peaceful departure.
I liked this song so much I learned how to play it when I was 13. I actually played it and all, but didn't know how to read piano notes. It was just memorized.
Now I couldn't tell you what is the first key to press on the piano for this piece.
Lol. . Weird. I literally made a thread about this song, and all classical music, and classical music fans a while back. .
I'll have to bump it. .
Good to see I'm not alone. . .
The most under-appreciated music in the world. ..
I never got into classical music but for some reason now I find myself expanding my horizons when it comes to music. Classical music is definitely a genre that brings out many emotions with a few notes.
