MASHANTUCKET, Conn. — Jason Escalera really aggravated Edwin Rodriguez during the promotion of their HBO main event Saturday night.

Rodriguez made Escalera pay for talking trash by battering his game-but-green opponent throughout their seven-plus rounds of one-sided action at MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Referee Steve Smoger mercifully prevented Escalera from taking more punishment when he jumped it to stop the bout 12 seconds into the eighth round of a scheduled 10-round super middleweight match that was televised as the main event of an “Boxing After Dark” tripleheader.

If this fight happens I think Rodriguez would win. I think he'll outbox Pavlik by staying on the outside using his jab good lateral movement going in and out throwing quick combos and turning him not letting Pavlik get his feet set to land power punches

I was having a discussion about this fight last night. I also think Rodriguez beats him. But like said before, Arum will probably save Pavlik for Chavez. In house fight and win-win for Arum.

Pavlik destroys Rodriguez. I would bet heavy money on it. Edwin carries his hands way too low, and once he punches himself out, Kelly would end it.

Kelly ain't no Escalera. La Bomba gets schooled even by the way beyond past prime pavlik. I root for La Bomba but he doesn't do anything special to convince me. Again for the record though, I hope the kid makes me eat my words!
