WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28KOs) does not expect to secure a fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, the undefeated WBC champion at 154-pounds.

Martinez, coming off a dominating performance against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., wants to return in late April or early May of next year. He would like to fight Canelo and then stage a fall rematch with Chavez Jr. To make the fight happen, Martinez is willing to move down to 154-pounds, but he doesn't expect Canelo to accept the challenge. Cottos a better fighter than Serg at 154. Look at both resumes, assuming Cotto beats Trout. Sergs prior resume at 154 is less than average and he looked average at 154. Serg never blossemed until he decided to go up to 160. I think Serg would struggle at 154 again if he moved back down.

Licking my chops for this fight.Make it happen if Cotto gets by Trout in Dec.At this point other then Mayweather,Cotto would generate more money then any other option.Still waiting on a confirmation on who Alvarez is going to fight in dec.Not a bright idea to feast on another poor Jr. WW as a preparation for a May clash.

There is a reason Cotto is on every fighters hit list. K9 wants to fight him (lol). Trout wanted a fight and got it. Canelo wants to fight him now. Floyd wanted a fight and fought him. Pacquiao was dying to fight Cotto again. Martinez has been chasing him. Mayweather probably wants a rematch.

He's not feared at all. The fighters know whats up. They know he's low risk and very high money. The reason is because he's been KOed twice in brutal fashion, he's taken a beating over his career. He eats punches. His defense is suspect. It's an easy choice. The performance against Mayweather is being blown out of proportion. If he fights Martinez he gets knocked out in 6 rounds.
