Why do people act like Boxing is not effective in a street fight?

Plus, in order to take you down, MMA guys have to drop their hands in most cases. A solid uppercut to the chin would fix them right up.

If you are a trained boxer and fight on the street against someone who isn't trained in anything, of course you have an advantage.

If you face an MMA fighter who is skilled in grappling, boxing, kick boxing etc, the pure boxer is at a disadvantage.

I train at a gym where there are some Brazilian MMA pro fighters, and I can tell you as long as I have been boxing and all the experience I have, I wouldn't fight some of them for all the money in the world. There's this one dude who had 30+ bare knuckle fights in Brazil and is a black belt champion in Ju-Jitsu.

If I don't hit him with the first few punches, I'm a dead man. Let's not kid ourselves, boxing is a sport, not fighting.

it's a lot of technique once you're on the ground, not so much strength. i used to do judo for a while and guys who were eighty pounds lighter than me were tossing me like a caeser salad.

Well, I know it takes technique, but we're talking abut fighting the average person here. I DID say MMA fighters, but I meant more along the lines of MMA beginners who think they're hard and wear Tapout t-shirts after a week in the gym.

Obviously it takes technique, but I'm willing to bet that my strength can overrule a lot of technique, as most MMA fighters don't even lift.
