It's crazy that they are basing a rematch on ONE ROUND!! Chavez Jr took a COMPLETE beating for 11 rounds & in the 12th the WAY HEAVIER(like by 20lbs) Chavez Jr knocked down a Martinez that got careless & had a BROKEN LEFT HAND & TORN LIGAMENTS on his right knee & the smaller & seriously hurt Martinez got up & traded to finish the fight..To Me that's NOT rematch material..If that knock down would have happened in the middle rounds like in the Pavlik fight(where Pavlik did 10 times better than Chavez Jr against Martinez & there was NO talk of a rematch afterwords) NO one would be talking about a rematch.... & Chavez Jr is bigger idiot by MINIMIZING Martinez's performance & win & just saying that he couldn't get & if he would have he would have knocked him out..Yea right!!Martinez should just move on..

Get outta here; look at the post fight presser; He clearly doesn't have a broken left hand nor does he have torn ligaments. He was walking perfectly after the fight and when they announced him the winner as well as his in ring interview.

Granted; he demolished Chavez Jr pillar to post rounds 1-11; but in round 12
toe to toe, Martinez couldn't hang. That's all good, he's a superior boxer, it's the art of hitting and not getting hit or minimize getting hit. JR. needs to learn how to box and if he hasn't learned by now i doubt he's going to.

Still I'd like to see a rematch because I got stuck working last night and had to watch a replay which sucked big time but Martinez got wacked and almost didn't get up.

They're seriously basing the rematch on a guy who outweighs Martinez by probably over 20 lbs being able to hurt him in the 12th round with a sudden burst of desperation.

Martinez schools this ****ing kid a second time. What an overrated bum. Credit to Jr. for not giving up, like most coddled rich kids would, but he was clearly dominated. Martinez plays it safer next time and kills him again.

What I don't understand is why Arum would even want a rematch? Clearly with Texas he's hoping he could rob Martinez, but why risk it? Why take a young kid with a huge name and possibly give him two, embarrassing back-to-back schoolings at the hands of a 37 year old fighter?

They should go their separate ways. Martinez should use this as a springboard for better things, and Chavez should go back to the drawing board and continue to incrementally raise the level of competition. Clearly he gets the **** beaten out of him in the higher weight classes, though.

cause it's all about making money. if arum is okay with screwing over pacquiao against bradley, why would he not be okay with screwing over martinez or have his plan backfire with chavez losing again? all arum cares about is making money. dibella seems the same way too. that's how promoters are. i thought scumbag arum's ways were well known by all by now...

I understand $$$, but how does ruining your potentially big money fighter's name help you make the maximum amount of money? Rebuild the kid's career and keep the money coming in. If he sacrifices him to Sergio again, all he's possibly done is made the kid the biggest joke in boxing and he'll either retire or be fighting old ladies until he does retire.

The kid has a very limited amount of potential. He's obviously not born for this sh1t, but he can at least continue to impose his huge size on C level fighters (he himself is probably a D fighter, but a huge one).

they're either that confident in willing to risk it to try and get a martinez win in a rematch (robbery or not) or arum just doesn't care about long term investments anymore? i mean how long will he continue being a promoter? how old is he? not sure though, because as of now, everything is just talks. dibella made sure of that by saying so in this post fight presser. we'll see what happens. the logical thing is they either go down the route you suggest or move up to face people like pavlik and abraham.

I'm for the rematch only because Martinez stands to make alot of money which he deserves. So bring on the rematch. Jr. would probably get beaten worse than before or even Ok'd. But to Jr's credit, for someone with no amatuer background, he gave a good account of himself.
