Good luck to Geale, a real credit to the sport & a great ambassador for Aussie boxing just by being himself.
Would like to mention a few other guys that have been in similar boats down here...
- Michael Katsidis, one of the most exciting fighters Australia has ever produced, was lucky to even get a mention in the mainstream press here, & was lucky to get a 100th of the publicity compared to Mundine in promotions down here.
There has never been a major Katsidis fight promoted in Australia. Absolutely pathetic.
- Sam Soliman, a guy who has travelled the world fighting at the highest level & can make a promotion single-handedly. The crowd at a Soliman fight always ends up wildly entertained. As far as I can tell, the only major fights he can manage over here is what he & his local team can put together themselves.
RE: Mundine & Green, atleast Danny when he fights sure as hell doesn't pick easy ones, & I have a lot of respect for Green.
As for Mundine, one of the best natural talents to come out of Australian boxing - great businessman, absolute waste of talent as a boxer, & has made himself a joke on the international stage, along with many people's opinion of Australian boxing. Incredibly dissappointing.
Guys like Daniel Geale & Will Tomlinson are the future of the sport down here, & have really lifted the level of the sport down here. Hopefully we will see many more like them.
