Post Comments Thread For: Gennady Golovkin is Determined To Knock Proksa Out

Abel Sanchez, the trainer of IBO/WBA "regular" middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (23-0, 20KOs), wants his boxer to make a statement on Saturday night against EBU king Grzegorz Proksa (28-1, 21KOs) at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York.

I think a quick knockout would be a disaster and a waste of time tbh. This fights needs to be a competitive back and forth fight a good number rounds. And both their skill levels need to be in display. If Golovkin knocks out Proksa in the first round, the response from the general audience would be "So what? Who is Proksa and why should I be impressed that that Golovkin knocked him out in the first round? I've no clue who he. *checks boxrec* This guy just lost recently to a featherfisted bum. Why wasn't this showcased on ESPN?"

Proska is skilled I'd be impressed if Golovkin can get him out of there. This will likely go 12 round UD for Golovkin

Having Golovkin's trainer Sanchez telling him that he needs to score a KO is doing him a horrible disservice. That's the type of advice that will lead to him turning into a face first brawler like in the Ouma fight rather than using his skills. I'm still skepticle that having Sanchez as his trainer is actually good for him and this doesn't help. I hope Golovkin doesn't fall victim to the same sh1t coaching like Jirov and Tszyu did at points in their career and not fullfill his potential as a result.

I say Golovkin wins by 3rd round KO.
BTW is Sanchez a good trainer?

^^^Agreed. Gunning for a KO is very poor advice, especially coming from a trainer.

If there were a concern about Golovkin it's what this is talking about that he'll be too amped up looking to take Proksa head off and forget about all the other subtleties needed to achieve a KO especially if Proksa can frustrate him early with his wild @ crazy manuveurs and make Golovkin press even harder.
His top priority should be to attack Proksa body early and often slow all that movement down before looking for the headshots

Yes and No, depends on how it accurs if Proksa comes out with any lack of common sense or safety concerns and gets blitzed then it would be a letdown.

But if he at least displays some professionalism or his best effort of and Golovkin counters or catches him with a Ko shot that's setup and displays ring IQ then it wouldn't be so bad just proof of his mythical status
