If it's hard spirits any good vodka really. Goose, Chopin, Chase etc. If I've got a bit of cash to burn then I like to get a bottle of this stuff:
I like the smokier whiskies like Talisker and Ardbeg over the sweeter type.
I don't drink much rum but one of the best I had was something called Chairman's Reserve: The Forgotten Casks, which I got on special offer a while back. Will be looking to pick up a bottle of Ron Diplomatico later this month, which I've heard is also very good.
Beers? I work in the West End, a stone's throw from Soho and Covent Garden so I'm pretty spoiled in that really. Doom Bar, Black Sheep and Tim Taylor's Landlord are all solid bitters. I'm also partial to a good American beer: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is generally my choice, though I've only ever found it in bottles. Not a massive fan of Belgian beers, which tend to be too strong and too sweet for my tastes, but if I'm in the mood then Orval, Duvel and a ridiculous brew called Rochefort 10 all tend to hit the spot.
