Default Latin America's Greatest Fighter(s)

Latin America has produced some of the most colorful, exciting, explosive and iconic fighters in Boxing history. Excluding these fighters would leave a void that would drastically reduce the status of the sport.

The above poll represents my top 10 by rank, please vote for your top 5 on the poll and - if you're so inclined - list your top 5 or 10 on your post.

Honorable Mention:
  • Salvador Sanchez*
  • Eusebio Pedroza
  • Antonio Cervantes
  • Kid Gavilan
  • Pascual Perez
  • Ricardo Lopez
  • Wilfred Benitez
  • Panama Al Brown**
  • Ismael Laguna
  • Carlos Ortiz
*Gone too soon
**First Latin American champion

Mr Panamaniac,

Do you include Brazil as Latin America & if so, have you heard of Eder Jofre?

If not, have a look at him. He definitely deserves to be on everyones list (in my humble opinion). He truly was a marvel.

I'll have to have a think about the rest of my list but the obvious ones are (in no order) Chavez, Monzon, Duran, Arguello, W Gomez, Benitez, S Sanchez & Zarate.

The tenth & final spot is up for grabs And there are many, many, many choices.

Glaring omission in the discussion (if you want to call it that): FELIX TRINIDAD...

Sorry, Tito.

If I could forget Tito, I could forget anyone... <-but that aside, this thread is not a 'who's who' of Latin fighters, consequently, any number of names could be omitted. This is about the elite fighters in the opinion of the thread-starter and that of others.
