after marriage money is THEIRS not HIS.

YOU BEFORE MARRIAGE own a home worth $600k.

you get married and then divorced.

from when you got married to when you got divorced, the house you bought without her went from $600k to $800k.

she has no interest in your house because she's not on the deed.

she is however entitled to the $200k equity your house built since marriage.

that's why title officers ask for quitclaim deeds from spouses when the house is only in one spouse name to help avoid title issues.
