Post Comments Thread For: KO of Amir Khan Puts Garcia on Shockingly Short List

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Move over Iran Barkley. Step aside George Foreman.

And you, Antonio Tarver, please make room for another passenger.

When the looping left hand that departed North Philadelphia finally crash-landed on the Vegas strip within minutes of midnight Saturday, Danny Garcia officially made their trio a quartet.

And while he was at it, he unceremoniously linked Amir Khan with Thomas Hearns, Michael Moorer and Roy Jones Jr. as well.

In the 35 years since my first TV fight – Ken Norton vs. Duane Bobick in May 1977 – there had been three high-profile endings that, to me, stood head and shoulders above all others in shock value.

All three had elements that went beyond a simply jarring upset.

Fights like these are different than the garden variety surprise – like Douglas-Tyson, for one – in which an undervalued underdog shows from the opening bell that he’s better than advertised.

Rather, in these cases, a significant favorite begins a fight in particularly dominant fashion and looks primed for a career-enhancing win, only to have the momentum blunted by one paradigm-shifting shot. [Click Here To Read More]

Very poor article which seems to be written by a novice to this sport. unresearched and incorrect, Foreman dropped Moorer with a "Right-Hand not a Left-Hook". Hearns loss to Barkley was not a unification fight like what Khan v Garcia was last weekend. The writer obviously has limited knowledge of the sport otherwise he would have mentioned Don Curry vs Milton McCrory Welterweight unification fight from June 1985 when Donald Curry nearly beheaded his opponent with a frightening left-hook midway through round 2. or if his knowledge of this sport was up to scratch he could have mentioned that incredible welterweight title fight from August 1987 between Starling v Breland when a devastating series of Left-Hooks from Starling ended the undefeated run from Breland and cost him his world title in similar circumstances to Khan vs Garcia. but like most things the writer of the article puts up on this website he is incorrect, inacurate and wrong such is his limited knowledge of this sport. This same person once posted an article on this site claiming Tommy Morrison to be up their with the All Time Greats of the Sport... need i say any more!

Lyle Fitzsimmons is one of the worst sports writers ever. He's on par with Ronnie Nathanals. If Lyle made youtube videos, he'd just be a more eloquent Carceno.

Writer makes a SHORT list of KO's out of thousands and because he didn't mention the few you put up he is lacking knowledge

Am I the only one who thinks that Breidis Prescott did a far more spectacular job on Amir?

Ah wait, he's not american, he's just a second class human being.
