Thats a great point you make. Still, I bet Arum and Donaire hide behind it if they haven't used it already. We all know what Arum is like with drumming up excuses and should Rigondeaux leave Arum when his contract expires in the next week, we might hear Arum really open up and come out with his plethora or reasons as usual lol

Rigo 2 gold medals earns him at least 1 super fight in the pros.

What cards did Mathebula headline?
Mathebula had a respectable PRO carreer and he was a champion. HBO knows or should know that Rigo is the real deal. Its bad business to make the fight now when the fight can be worth triple in a yr or two.

This should be a dream fight for the fans. In the business sense though, right now imo, Rigo is a high risk low reward fight for Donaire.

This is one of those fights that if you let "marinate" too long you just end up with another Juanma-Gamboa scenario. Gamboa got robbed of making a huge name for himself, because he'd have killed Juanma and done it in spectacular fashion. It was always clear Gamboa was better, but instead of giving him the chance to make a name for himself Arum allowed Juanma to get exposed and ruin the hype Gamboa would have gotten. I can easily see the same thing happening to Donaire. He's looked less and less impressive each time out and he's not going to be able to just move up in weight classes much more.

how can donaire get exposed when there are no questions surrounding him...we know he can take a punch (never been stopped or knocked down or close to being knocked down and he has fought hard punchers), we know he can give one hell of a punch even at 122 (kd'ed vazquez jr and mathebula both of whom had never been knocked down before), we know he's fought and beaten top level competition (montiel, darchinyan, hernan marquez, narvaez, sydorenko, etc.), we know he has the experience of fighting 12 round fights and having the stamina to easily go the distance...i mean if anything i'd expect rigondeaux to get exposed..rigo hasn't beaten a top level opponent in the pros yet, he has been knocked down by a jab (it wasn't a slip or the feet got tangled up..it was a clean jab), when he got knocked down he began to run around (showed what little heart he had), and he has only been 12 rounds ONCE (and he looked average in that fight).

People say he's not ready for a shot? Jesus christ, as fans we should be screaming for this guy to be fighting all the top guys, he has a pedigree that most seasoned professionals would die for.

He is ready. His weakness is he doesn't bring a crowd (yet) but he brings some genuine skills.
Thank you!! Not to mention the fact he is far more ready than Nonita's last 3 opponents along with being a champion. People can't have it both ways by stating Rigo is not ready but accepting the last 3 opponents

Regardless of what one thinks of Rigo's resume or ability, the fact remains that he's the WBA champion. That alone ought to be enough, especially when Donaire's stated objective is to unify the belts. Beyond that, as boxing fans, we should all want to see the top guys fight each other. Despite having only ten pro fights, Guillermo is highly ranked. I'm not saying Nonito should be tackling Rigondeaux next, but he'd be an obvious "ducker" if he flees 122 without facing "El Chacal."
