Why are boxers heights reported so inaccurately? Do channels just guestimate?
I've noticed before how, when watching the ring entrances or the 'tale of the tape' and seeing heights of boxers which are clearly incorrect,
Like last nights fight with George Groves said he was 5'11 1/2" but in previous fights say he's 6' 2" which seems more likely :
even boxrec has groves at 5'11 1/2"
cant think of others right now but there definitely have been times like this
so do these channels broadcasting the fight just guess?
its quite good to know the height differences between boxers before they fight

fighters lie about it all the time, much like they do in other sports as well.
There is no official height records in boxing, like there is official weigh ins. That's probably why. It's not mandatory to have your height officially recorded.

They do this in all sports not just boxing. It's pretty common practice. Iverson was listed at 6' tall but he was closer to 5'10". Same thing with Michael Vick.
