That's why I never knock the judges or at least be too critical on them.

The problem with watching it live is that where you are sitting often influences how you see the fight.

If you are up close, then a boxers back may be towards you somethings you view is block or you can't see if certain punches landed.

I often sit in a sweet spot, middle section towards the center of the ring. Even though I can see the whole ring etc....I am often a bit too far back to see if certain punches (partially landed vs fully blocked) are landed when a fighters guard is up (unless they are clean shots).

Again if you move too close up, then you have to worry about not being able to see certain angles when the fight is going on.

Like one poster said........the best view is at home...especially with a DVR to be able to rewind and slow certain parts down to see if punches landed.

Agree. Judges should be back stage with big screens. Not even joking. And scorecards should be presented after each ****ing rd. Hold these dudes responsible in the moment. Every other sport has live scoring. WHy would boxing be any different.

Point of all that is, I think ring side, from only one static angle, is probably the worst possible way to watch a fight if you really need to see what's going on. I'm not so sure judges should be sitting rindgside.

Also, depending on how the fighters are fighting, in most cases, each judge sees a different fight from a different angle. I think this is the case in a lot of in-fighting matches, where punches are smothered, or blocked from view, where one judge sees them land and another cant even see the punch being thrown.

This would have been a fine observation if Manny won (crowd bias), but the problem is they gave the decision to Bradley.

So for whatever reason those old judges sitting in a static angle, saw a fight that requires multiple rewatch and slo-motions to see (by Bradley's supporters).

The fight was fixed.

edit: sorry to bring up the pacquiao fight

I agree... second viewings always look closer for some reason, and I don't drink during fights and usually have the MUTE on the HBO crew (turning it back up only inbetween rounds to hear the corners). I didn't score Pac/Bradley fight the first time around but I had Pac comfortably ahead, with only possibly 2 or 3 rounds that stood out for Bradley. Then on review I sat and broke down the rounds entirely (giving Bradley the benefit of the doubt on close rounds), I was able to see it possibly closer to a draw. When there wasn't much action Tim was atleast flicking his jab, although it wasn't landing much. When they were trading (usually in the last 45 seconds of the round) Pac got the better of Tim in the exchanges.

I still think Pac won, but he didn't dominate Bradley really in any way. Once Bradley calmed down and used proper head and foot movement, he made Pac miss more and frustrated him by boxing. Bradley really found his groove in the last 4 rounds and should have fought the entire fight that way. It frustrates Pac and he resorts to following his opponent around without throwing punches. In those last few rounds Tim would jump in with a quick one/two and then back out, on review it was pretty impressive. I think in a rematch, Tim will use that tactic throughout.... with Pac REALLY (not Freddie Roach 'really') going for the knock out. Rematch will be a better fight, I would predict Bradley by decision or Pac by knockout. Bradley would be smart not to try to be macho and try to trade with Pac and box and move all night long. I think Tim found out he can't hurt Pac but if he sticks to boxing, in and out movement, jab jab jab jab and more jab... he has Pac frustrated all night and almost a certain victory - IF he sticks to the gameplan throughout all 12 rounds and doesn't try to be macho and trade punches.

I wonder if technology is the answer to this judging problem.
Put sensors on the boxers and track the movements using high speed cameras and 3D modeling. Then score the fight like how you would in Street Fighter, lol.

Good points Reed. Went ot ODH BHop fight. In the arena it looked like the gut punch wasn't all that. On the way out I asked Emmanuel Steward (not that i'm somebody he knows or am important in any way) and he said it was legit but I thought he was full of it.

Saw it on TV and it was clear Bhop tagged him pretty good on the right spot.

i think the problem is not the spot where they are sitting because even dan rafael who was sitting almost next to the judges had the fight in a wide margin for pac 119-109, and he was even convince that bradley will take the upset b4 the fight

the faq is only the 2 judges on that view scored it the ugly way meant there is a problem and the problem wasnt the view lol

the pros on that spot is u can actually here how hard the punch land and if it did land or just hitting gloves
so apart from seeing the actual happenings of the fight u can actually hear it too which is really important for judging,

the problem is boxing needs to investigate the judges they picked and i mean really good, in every after fight...
and maybe add a little round by round inerview after the fight why they score it that way

when u had around 95% of boxing site giving the win to the loser means it aint right
