One thing is that he did something to reach his dreams...now we as armchair boxers and posters here (mostly but not all) can easily criticize him (or any other boxers such as Mayweather, Cotto, DLH, JMM and others....). When it is all said and done, Pacquiao will be satisfied with what he has accomplished.

who gives a crap about titles?

Manny nor Floyd are great welters because they're significantly undersized and lost speed and power going up in weight. Nothing to do with catchweights or alphabet titles.

actually, i happen to agree mostly with what the ts said. I find it kinda hard to dispute his reasoning's, but that doesnt mean that manny would lose all those fantasy fights. But i think people have a better time picturing mayweather commin up a little better in fantasy fights because we have seen him fight different styles throughout his career. For instance if somebody asks could mayweather beat a paul williams, some would say hell no paul was too tall, but then we've seen floyd fight Tony Pep, Corrales (not sure about his height but he seemed pretty tall next to floyd) so some might say he could.

i used the williams example because of the threads today. We haven't seen Manny go thru a lot of styles in his career so its harder to picture who would win those kinds fights where styles would clash. I like a Pac vs Pryor, or Pac vs saddler as someone mentioned in a thread earlier. But what about pac at his lower weights like fly or bantam? Im not too familiar with the greats in those weights except for pancho.

The more technical boxers often get the nod in these fantasy match-ups whereas wilder fighters tend to lose out.

Doesn't always work like that in the ring though.

The idea for the thread came from some ones comment on another thread saying Manny never wins fantasy fights.

Well he beats some all-time greats in my book but as you said we havent seen him in with a wide array styles. As far what you said about Floyd that is exactly why he gets the benefit of doubt

....he has fought every concievable style and come out on top....to add to tall guys he beat there was Genero Hernandez who is 5'11" as well as de la Hoya....Phillip NDo was very tall as well

Some of the great fighters you should check out bantamweight and down are

Carlos Zarate, Wilfredo Gomez(started around this weight but is all time greatest at junior featherweight), Ruben Olivares, Jeff Chandler, Mark Too Sharp Johnson, Ricardo Lopez, Humberto Gonzalez, Michael Carbajal, KHaosai Galaxy, Miguel"Happy" Lora, Orlando Canizales, Johnny Tapia, Eder Jofre, Hilario Zapata, Miguel Canto, etc....they all got videos on youtube at your disposal

If Pac would have never fought a prime versatile ATG in Barrera back in 2003. Idiots would have said Barrera would have beaten Pac in a fantasy fight.

If Pac would have picked Mosley instead of Cotto idiots would have said Cotto beats Pac even at a catchweight of 145. Hell idiots still pick Cotto at 154 .

I still haven't heard one legit reason why Pac can't win fantasy fights. Just a bunch of hating of nonsense.

1)Manny Pacquaio never established himself as an all-time great in a particular weight class. Leonard won multiple titles but is a top 3 welterweight of all time, Mayweather has won several titles at different weights but is arguably the greatest junior lightweight of all time, Duran has, Hearns etc. He hardly ever defended his titles and once he won a title he often moved up or just for 5 or less fights there

2) He hasnt beaten a wide array of styles, thats where matchmaking comes into play...

Most of the fighters Manny has been matched against are come forward type of fighters, none with particularly great footspeed, footwork or handspeed...the fastest fighter he has ever fought is Juan Manuel Marquez who he has never beat clearly in three tries

3)He has never fought a spoilers/defensive stylist at or near his size which shows how a fighter can adjust to win....Joan Guzman, Humberto Soto, Joel Casamayor, Nate Campbell, Floyd Mayweather, etc.
I will tell you the real reason why. Because fighters back then weren't babied and overrated like they are today.

/thread.

LOL at Floyd getting the benefit of the doubt. Because, of who he has fought. While Pac gets none because of who he hasn't fought.

Name me one opponent that Floyd fought that was as SKILLED, as VERSATILE, as GREAT, as PRIME, overall as GOOD as Barrera was in 2003. Name me one. Floyd doesn't have a win in his resume that comes close to that Barrera. No opponent of Floyd has had all those characteristics as the 2003 Barrera. Yet Floyd get the benefit of the doubt?

Ohhhh....Because, he fought "slick" fighters like Judah? GTFOH.

What people dont pick him? Most do pick him, depending on who you ask, but the reason is it is safe to pick wrongly against Pac, when you know full when they wont have to get in the ring with Pac, where Pac embarasses your prediction.

It was easy to pick Pac to win against Cotto, or hatton because they were his future opponents. If Cotto and hatton or whoever werent of Pacs time, then some would have the audacity to say Cotto would beat Pac.

So picking against Pac, is being cowardice jin a way when you know full well that boxer isnt going to fight Pac anytime soon other than in your fantasy and dreams, and is bragging and boasting.
