The first shot was parried by the cop's right hand. That cop got good reflexes.

He was lucky that second shot didn't hit him in spite of the short distance between him and the drunk driver.

There was a third shot fired by the driver while the cop was already at the back of the SUV. You can see the muzzle flash inside the vehicle and very clearly from the driver side.
