Default equipment for a newb

Hey guys I am an absolute newb when it comes to boxing. I live about 50 miles from the nearest gym so i plan on buying equipment for at home. Im about 5'5'' and weigh 123 lbs. I really want to get into boxing to get some rage out and learn to actually box! So what things would i need? Heavy bag(weight?), Gloves(brand/thickness?) Any thing else you think would be good? The other thing is are their any good videos i could buy to maybe learn some moves? Im trying to work on speed and power. thanks guys

So there's no other boxing gym nearby? Do you have someone who train with you?
For a starter, i would recommend you to take some course to learn the right move and know how to play safe. After that you can go right ahead keeping yourself fit at home.
What you must have for boxing are handwraps and boxing gloves. I would recommend size 12,14 or 16 oz. for your size. but it's better if you get a chance to try a few on first.

where are you located? My buddy is in the same position, i'm almost like his manager if you will... I help him train at home since we don't have money for a gym right now. (that will soon change) He's 5 foot 7 ish, 140 lbs... there's tons of drills you can do at home to work on stamina, power, speed etc. A helpful thing to do is look on youtube at videos. If you have other questions, ask away man!

No other gyms. I live about 50 miles from vegas and dont go very often. Thats why i plan on starting my own "gym" i already have weights and stuff that i work out on, but for endurance and other muscles I want to do boxing. I dont plan on boxing in an actual ring, but do want to learn the basics and get faster and have more punching strength. Thats why I want to know what equipment to get and if there is any videos or anything that could help.
