The viewership for UFC on Fox 2 peaked during the evening’s main event on Saturday night, attracting over six million observers during Rashad Evans’ unanimous decision victory over Phil Davis at the United Center in Chicago.
Fox officials announced the news on Tuesday, also revealing that the main event posted a household rating of 3.4. The two bouts preceding the headliner showed steady growth prior to the main event, as Chris Weidman’s decision victory over Demian Maia netted a rating of 2.2 and an average viewership of four million observers. Meanwhile, Chael Sonnen’s unanimous nod over Michael Bisping attracted an average of five million viewers and posted a rating of 2.7. According to the figures released by Fox, the broadcast also posted a 2.4 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, nearly eclipsing the combined ratings of ABC, NBC and CBS (2.5) during the time period. Additionally, the UFC broadcast earned a 2.5 rating in the adults 18-34 demographic, far outshining the combined ratings of the other three networks (1.4). The UFC’s second effort on Fox fell short of the total viewership mark set by the promotion’s inaugural effort on the network, which earned an average of 5.7 and peaked with 8.8 million viewers during Junior dos Santos’ heavyweight title-winning first-round knockout victory over Cain Velasquez. Fox also noted that the promotion’s sophomore broadcast showed growth in the male 25-49 and 25-54 demographics, increasing viewership in the categories by three percent. Additionally, the male 35-54 demographic showed four percent growth compared to UFC on Fox 1. http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/UFC...ns-Davis-39811 |
