According to Top Rank President Todd DuBoef, if he's able to finalize a lightweight battle between Brandon Rios and Yuriorkis Gamboa, he would like to place undefeated junior welterweight contender Mike "Mile High" Alvarado (32-0, 23KOs) in the HBO televised co-feature. DuBoef is currently negotiating with HBO to finalize a fight between Rios and Gamboa.

Gamboa-Martinez and Rios-Molina would've been a solid doubleheader, but Gamboa-Rios and Alvarado vs. a Provodnikov or another top 20 Jr. Welterweight is a great doubleheader; significant, competitive, and action matchups. Hershman at the helm of HBO has it stepping its game up.

I don't think Soto and Matthysse are realistic options for Alvarado because Top Rank seems to want as little as possible to do with GBP unless they have a lack of options and their fighter is the clear favorite. Provodnikov is a good non-GBP option though, someone Top Rank and HBO could accept, and it's a war.

doubt Rios bout will happen so fast & Alvarado, action guy but his last bout exposed him a lot & w/cuts & swelling, better move vs a top 10 quick or get a shot...limited time w/his exciting style but it catches up quick & he's 31 +...
