i do not call myself a drummer by any stretch, but i can play the drums
i am not good. they are not my first instrument
they're a hard instrument to have and own
they take a ton of space
they are LOUD
unless you have a digital set and some headphones you can expect to be providing music for your entire apartment or immediate neighborhood
i'd say that basic drumming is the easiest rock and roll instrument to learn, but like any of the others it takes a lifetime and some talent to master
work on your basic stuff in 4/4 (that's what most songs are in)
work on your fills and try to keep them simple and in time
you want proficiency with your snare, bass drum, and high hat for starters
the rest will come with practice
john bonham (the zeppelin drummer,) is one of the greatest rock and roll drummers of all time. good luck sounding like him.
in that regard you have good taste.
i refuse to listen to anything "lil wayne," but i'll add that most hip hop drumming is very basic and you shouldnt have huge issues replicating it
