I guess I'll update the MRI findings incase it can help somebody in my position.

I have a labral tear which extends from the 12 o'clock position to the 5 o'clock position. There is also suspect small Hill-Sachs deformity related to a prior anterior dislocation.

Seeing a specialist next friday.

My right shoulder popped out for the first time in August 2011 while sparring in the 3rd round. It was out for maybe 30 seconds to a minute then popped back in. It was really sore the next few days, and I rested it over a month before sparring again. (I am orthodox btw)

The next time I sparred it seemed okay, but was sore afterwards. I sparred again a few weeks after that and it popped out again. It popped back in after only a few seconds, and was sore again for a few days. (I am fine hitting the bags, and mitts. Its seems to only pop out during sparring b/c not every punch lands.)

I asked my uncle about it, who is a doctor in another state. And he emailed me these shoulder exercises that use resistance bands and dumbells. I didn't start doing these excercises until a month ago, when my shoulder started to feel not-so-good even without sparring.

My shoulder feels a little bit stronger. I sparred this week and my shoulder felt like it wanted to come out a couple times but did not. I could feel it move around after missing a couple right hands. It seems like the strength gained from the excercises prevented it from fully coming out. However, it was sore again a couple days afterwards. The kind of soreness where it hurts to move my arm in certain positions.

I don't mind the soreness, as I can recover in a few days. I'd would be actually happy if my shoulder never pops out again and is just sore after every time.

I was just wondering if anyone has had the same experience or knows someone that does. And what can be done to prevent it.

Thanks.

it sounds liek your shoulder is "subluxing;"

popping out
and popping back in without you having to force it

it's torn.

somewhere there should be a connection that isnt established any more

it happens to both of my shoulders, and did throughout my entire athletic career.

only my left shoulder experienced a catastrophic type injury
the other one just started to pop out over time.

you need surgery and a serious period of recovery for it to stop doing what it's doing right now

sorry man. that stuff basically ended my athletic career. anterior subluxation of both shoulders was what they called it.

you will learn to protect it
and if you do go through any rehab or strengthening process it will help you immeasurably.

I've tried that on a heavy bag and for instance a hook can never be as strong with palm down as it is with palm up.....at least for me.

if the palm is down it's still wrong, punches are turned over if the thumb is pointed down.

once perfected, punches are harder with less effort and the shoulder is locked in a position where it won't pop out.
