WBC junior welterweight champion Erik Morales has advised multiple sources in Mexico that he will not go forward with a planned defense against Danny Garcia on January 28th at Reliant Arena in Texas. Last week the Mexican star felt sick and had immediate gallblader surgery at a hospital in Mexico City.

Hopefully this doesn't mean they cancel the entire card. I was really looking forward to the Kirkland/Molina fight. Should be a good scrap! I was gonna suggest Soto stepping in, but apparently the fight would only be postponed a month, so a replacement fight is unlikely...

If this is true, it doesn't surprise me one bit. Soto is such a chicken ***** it's not even funny. He's ducked so many fighters you can make a starting five basketball team. Here are a few that I can think of right now: A. Peterson, B. Rios, U. Antillon (rematch), and now D. Garcia. It's so shameful... I don't know who I dislike more (for ducking) Andre Dirrell or Humberto Soto!

I really didn't like this match up to begin with I like Morales as a fighter in all but this Garcia kid is a good fighter him self I would like to see him in there with Peterson. I think it would be a good fight Garcia beat Holt and beat him pretty easy the kid is not the most exciting fighter but he boxes pretty good. Morales vs Marquez fight is another fight I would like to see but I think Marquez sighed a two fight deal with Top Rank and Morales is with Golden Boy so this fight isn't happening soon so than Make Morales vs De Marco.

Dont see a point in this fight at all for morales if he wins what does a Win mean over a young but unknown garcia do for him? And if he looses hes screwed a demarco fight a soto fight a marquz a fight are much better for eric.

Does not surprise me. Soto is at a point in his career where he only wants the big fights. If it was Morales they offered and not Garcia he would of took the fight in a heart beat.

He fights C- fighters in Mexico or BIG NAME fighters anywhere...Thats SOTO. Dude is a business man. He owns his own Bus route company in his hometown.
