Post Is boxing killing die hard fans?

I need a real point of view here,not your classic"If you don't like it don't watch it" kinda crap.I been i boxing fan for 25 years(I'm 34),but been a die hard fan of boxing for 15 years.I been to about 10 championship fights and like 30 shows overall.Here is my question;where is boxing heading?.The reason i am asking because i cannot believe why just happened tonight in HBO.Bronier's attitude and skills are far from good and the fighter he fought,for a championship is a joke.Canelo looked like he was passing out from exhaustion and he is being called a "great champion".Fights that need to be done are not happening because the marquee fighter don't want to lose that marketability.Fights from telefutura are not longer any good,there are just a showcase for specific fighters.Fighters are being caught with illegal substances or worse,Fighter fighting someone with a 15-15-0 records.Judges robbing fighters(not marquez if you dont want to go there)Catch weights seem to be the "NEW" thing now,even fighters are acting like jerks inside and outside of the ring and the list goes on and on and on.What is the future of Boxing,I am in a point where i am ready to throw the towel and be done with boxing and i know i am not alone here.I will like to know what the real fans from here think,am i being to harsh or too dramatic,or that is a sentiment people can relate too?..Please keep it serious and tell me your thoughts..

There are lots of things killing boxing. Three issues for me;

1. Lack of competitive fights.

2. Lack of star talent that appeals to more than die hards.

3. The best fighters don't fight each other.

Say what you will about the UFC, they at least take care of #1 & 3.

Damn, this thread makes me depressed. I wish boxing were different, but it's worth putting up with all the bullshiat for the occasional amazing moment/round/fight that reminds us why we love the sport.

You are right,but what happens when those happy moments get more far beetween?...i like lighter weights now,because since the weight class are not known to casual fans,they have to almost kill eachother so they can make a name for themselfs and make little money..

Yea, the last couple of years of boxing have been disappointing... occasionally you get 2 fighters that have no option but to fight each other and it creates a great fight (Angulo vs Kirkland) but overall, once a fighter gets a belt he acts like he is king and promoters being the money hungry animals they are, they pick and choose their best business move. Kind of sad...but I hope that by MMA matching up their best fighters with each other will cause boxing promoters to step it up. I think if fans just stop feeding into these weak ppv fights and promoters will have no choice but to put a good show together to make money

If you want to ignore any positives of the sport then move on to something else.

As a life long boxing fan since 1986, for me anyways, I have just come to accept all the BS that goes with it. There have been scandals and shady figures for more than a 100 years and it has survived. But I love boxing and to me there is nothing better than a good fight. I went to somebody's house for a fight party for the Marquez-Pacquaio fight and I was shocked at the amount of people there, people I would have never thought knew anything about boxing so it made me feel better about "our" sport. I also went to a fight party with a big crowd for the Ortiz-Mayweather fight. It will always go through ups and downs and I hope that having a change at HBO will have a positive impact on the sport. I will never go away though.
