Marcos Maidana vs Brandon Rios...Who wins?

When Brandon Rios moves up to 140 this fight must happen. This fight has fight of the year written all over it....but who would win this brutal war and why?

it "will" happen, sooner than you think. BRandon is already chasing it. Brandon throws a LOT more leather than maidana and assuming his power comes up with him (I believe the move will make him stronger) he can make maidana very respectful. Maidana was on the backfoot for most of the fight with ortiz prior to landing anything meaningful of his own. He doesn't have much of a workrate and we know his defense could use some work, especially inside. I see brandon throwing a lot of leather in close and maidana maybe not working enough.

This is assuming the move up does to Bam Bam what I'm assuming it will. He sheds a lot of weight and he sheds a lot of weight fast, he looks sick every weigh in. He weighs in pale and just looks like death, it's frightening. I see the move to 140 being as good to his body as 147 was to Ortiz's and thus making him a really durable and strong fighter at 140.

I like Rios in this one. It'll be a slugfest and he has less miles on him.

I think Maidana will hit him way too hard. I've seen rios hurt in his recent fights.

We've seen Maidana on the floor a few times. Still got El Chino in this matchup.

i hear maidana is wanting to hit up 147, if he's drained making 140 rios kills him. if he's ok at 140, he's rangy compared to rios and I think maidana would have to box a bit to beat rios, which I don't know if he can do for more than 3 rounds.

rios has the shorter, straighter punches and would eventually crumble maidana like khan did to the body.....but rios won't forget about the body after that happens.

im not gonna be putting my $ where my mouth is on that one though

Brandon Rios is a willful fighter. He was almost KO'd by Acosta but Rios' will would not let that happen. In the case of Rios vs Maidana, another fighter with an undaunting will, Rios may not have enough to break Maidana's will. Not to mention Maidana is the biggest puncher at 140. Rios will lose to him. I feel that Rios is too used to being the guy to impose his physical will on his opponent. When he meets someone who can match that, he may come apart at the seems. I pick Maidana KO by 9 in a fight of the year type brawl.

That's actually a very good point my dude. Work the body and I think that Rios can end the fight. I forgot to take that into account when I made my prediction. It's still the same prediction though. Maidana has to be stopped by the body shot, or he will rise and fight with new found vigor.

like I said at the end, I'm not 100% sure on that.

Acosta is a damn good boxer and he was turning rios and straight making him look foolish the first half of that fight, but I don't know if maidana can do that.

I think rios is gonna be just as comfortable at 140 as he is now.
