It is.. even though it's a standard at this point.

The technology is standard, but these bloodsucking companies are still milking us for it.

When I can turn on the local news channel and it's in HD, that means these other guys are ripping us off.

Really the thread could be on all these companies charging for a standard now.

But I was specifically pissed about a $10 surcharge for 3 hours of boxing in HD.

in all fairness, there has been almost no inflation in PPV prices.

I feel like I was paying $50 for PPV's a decade ago....and I'm still paying basically the same price.

Im with you, most the time HD makes little to no impact on my viewing enjoyment. also, **** IMAX and this whole 3D craze, it definitely isnt worth extra money.

however, something like boxing with the super slow motion...that can make a pretty big difference.

Not enough for me to spend 300+ bucks on a new tv though when I have a stockpile of free old ones to use.

Well it cost them more to put out HD so it costs more for you to purchase HD. Plus they know youll still buy the PPV, so why not charge more

If HD was "standard" in 2011 like you want it to be, the price would be the same but they wouldnt call it an "HD upcharge"

When HD is broadcasted for free.. like it is right now... it is standard.

The difference is these bloodsucking companies know we will still pay for it, and as long as people will still pay for it, obviously they are still going to charge for it.

Just because THEY are calling it an upcharge, doesn't mean the technology itself isn't standard.
