Post Comments Thread For: BJ Flores Punishes and Stops Nick Iannuzzi in Five

At the O’Reilly Center in Springfield, Missouri, cruiserweight contender BJ Flores (25-1-1, 16 KOs) stopped Nick Iannuzzi (16-3, 9 KOs) in five rounds. Flores landed an overhand right that dropped Iannuzzi hard in the first round. He was down until the count of eight and barely made it up. He was saved by the bell. Flores then punished Iannuzzi until the boxer's corner stopped the contest at the end of the fifth round. All three judges had it scored 50-44 after five rounds.

I had said earlier that nick was average, very hittable(as this proved) but fairly durable...he surprised many w/his last effort...but after this at 34 he's just an oppenent...best go bk to ampa and fight club fight 8 rounders...he never was a main event fighter...

Flores seems to be a very good all-around fighter BUT he has to start getting in there with more credible guys

I remember watching Flores fighting in ESPN, forgot the name of the opponent but i think its Davis. Flores was getting praised from the media and fans. But that was 3-4 years ago. I know he appears on ESPN friday night fights as a commentator.

Shouldn't he be challening for a world title right now or even a world champion. What is going on with his career?

BJ won the fight in the first round with the big right hand. Nick was running for the rest of the fight and never tried to win after that. I don't know if it is just the difference between in-person and youtube, but BJ actually looked smaller and more cut in this fight. Seemed to be in fantastic shape.

I like BJ- very nice guy. But I wish he and his team would drop the whole "we were robbed in Australia" act. Even the ring announcer was in on it. BJ's trainer told me with a totally straight face that "we fought Green in Australia and everybody says we won" as a preface to his statement that he's going to try and get Tarver in the ring next. It was all I could do not to argue with him. He's a real nice guy, but he's either just plain wrong or he was trying to pull one over on me. I had it 117-111 Green, and I could only really see a 1 point swing either way. BJ walked Green down and put him on the ropes, but then he almost never let his hands go. I saw that tendency just a little against Iannuzzi, too, but he was definitely a lot more aggressive in terms of his punching.
