Boxing promoter Ronald "Butch" Lewis died Saturday at age 65 from heart failure, according to multiple reports.

TRAGIC SPORTS DEATHS
Sports has lost many athletes way too soon. We list a few.
Lewis is believed to have suffered a massive heart attack at his sprawling estate in Delaware and he died around 5:00am local time.

Since beginning his career in the 1970s, Lewis had promoted some of boxing's biggest names including Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Michael and Leon Spinks.

In 1988, Lewis negotiated one of the largest guaranteed paydays, $13.5 million, in the sport's history for Michael Spink's fight against Mike Tyson.

Lewis made his foray into the entertainment world in 1991, producing cable and feature films through his Butch Lewis Productions.

He later started a partnership with Universal's Island Def Jam Music Group to create a record label, Voicez.

The label has been responsible for managing rap act Unladylike, hip-hop duo Kinfolk and singer Eric Danell.

"RIP my man Butch Lewis. Great guy. You will be missed," rap mogul Sean Combs tweeted.
