Pacquiao more accurate puncher than Mayweather

Some people seem to think Mayweather is the most accurate puncher but the truth of the matter is that Pacquiao is more accurate than Mayweather.

Pacquiao throw more punches and is a combination puncher, both these things redcue accuracy. On top of this Pacquiao is a harder puncher and throws harder puncher, another thing that will effect accuracy.

We also have to forget about the jab as the jab is use to open a defence and find range, so it can be used effectively even though it is not landing.

Pacquiao also lands his punches right on the button, **** on the chin, Mayweather punches are more scoring punches.

Pacquiao landed an astonishing 50% of his power punches against Mosley while Mayweather landed an impresiive 46%, still 4 % less than Pacquiao. And Mosley was in defensive mode when facing Pacquiao and Pacquiao was throwing more punches than Mayweather.

    Pacquiao vs Mosley

    Pacquiao vs De la Hoya

    Mayweather vs Judah

    145/295 49%

A near-riot in the closing seconds of the 10th round only delayed the inevitable: A dominant Floyd Mayweather Jr. victory.

So what is there 6 fight average?

    Pacquiao 52%

    Mayweather 50.2%

There you have it the stats back up my theory and add to this Pacquiao throws more, hits harder and throws more combinations and higher punch combinations, you would have to agree Pacquiao is the more accurate puncher.
    214
    Floyd Mayweather
    71.03%
    152
    Manny Pacquiao
    28.97%
    62

    The poll is expired.

I'm thinking a larger sample size might make this a better post.

Mayweather's style emphasizes accuracy, Pac's emphasizes creating openings and exploiting them. Both are incredibly accurate but Pac does "waste" more punches but like you said, they're wasted only to compubox as they are set-ups for his power punches. I believe his power punch connect rate is even higher than Mayweather's but I'd have to confirm that.

Its no seem to think Floyd is way more accurate puncher; you fail mention Manny landed only at 31% rate overall and 17% of his jabs. And Floyd landed at 44% rate. Floyd has biggest Punch stat disparity in boxing history from his accuracy and punches landed against him so try again.

I think both are accurate punchers, but Mayweather fights in spots and chooses his shots as where Pacquiao will throw 4-5 punch combos but landing 2 which are the punches he's looking to connect with.

Based on the numbers Floyd will be looked at as the more accurate puncher being he throws a lot less but lands at a high rate where Pac throws a lot more and may land at a lower percentage, but still manages to land at a high amount.

Yes in the power punch category, jabs don't tell the full story, because and attacking fighter like Manny uses it to create openings move the guard, blind his opening to the next punch and to find range. Mayweather being a counter puncher rarely does this.

Power punches is where it matters.

I'm just on about pure accuracy and have taken the jab out of the equation for the reasons already stated.

And when you look at Pacquiao's style, there a lot of thing he does that should reduce accuracy, volume punching and combinations but his accuracy is still phenomenally high.

Power punch stats are pretty comparable against common opponents. Mayweather definitely is the more accurate jabber, though.
