Just watched Assault in the Ring

I watched this documentary yesterday and I was pretty much shocked about the events before and after the fight. Luis Cresto in my opinion commited a crime and destroyed the lives of the Collins family. The Collins family suffered the most in my opinion till this very day. Cresto had his chance I mean he had a beautiful wife and he got children he was surrounded by criminals and thiefs for example Panama Lewis. Cresto is naiv and ****** and the producer of this documentary exposed him. I thought Cresto cheated because of the reaction after the fight when Collins Sr. held Cresto's glove. But after being exposed I felt disgusted. Panama Lewis still makes a living after this crime. Cresto lived 10 in a basement and was left by his wife, which I think was a good move for their children. Cresto admitted everything after 24 year after being exposed. This guy is just ****** as hell . He lost everything and after 24 years he admitted everything just because he was caught red handed by the producer. This guy should be in prison till the rest of his pathetic life and gang****ed everyday. The same thing sould happen to Panama Lewis too. The guru of cheating in boxing.

      Good documentary, very sad tale.
Luis Resto had it written all over his face that he knew the story when Collins grabbed his gloves at the end of the fight; guilty as sin. And what a scum-bag that guy Lewis is. He's like Don king but 20x more dislikeable, if that's possible; Why anyone would want him anywhere near their gym is beyond me.

Amazing heart Billy Collins Jr. showed taking that beating with rocks for 10 rounds.

The producer didn't expose anything. Resto has been exposed for a long time. Served a jail sentence and was banned from boxing for life. Him admitting that his gloves were tampered with didn't serve to heal anyone other than Resto himself, who has turned into a practically homeless drug abuser with no family or support. Thats worse than what many in jail have. Resto is a weak minded villain who went with someone's awful idea to tamper his gloves on the night he fought Billy Collins, which ultimately shattered a young kids dream and life. But Resto lost everything too, and deservedly so, for that mistake he made. The film exposed that actions in our lives consequently have penalties that time does not always heal and we all have to be able to deter the right choices from the wrong ones.

Great post. Collins became a hero of mine after enduring that but it goes to show that you can be too brave. As for Resto and Lewis, I can't describe how disgusting their act was. Every time I see Collins Sr and Jr hugging in the ring after the fight, I look at the guilty parties and think "you tore that family in two".

he was the first person to get rest to go on the record saying that the wrappings on his hands and the tape was dipped in plaster

and then it hardened late in the fight (and he shows his fists half clenched in the position they would take on after a few rounds had passed)

and then he explains how he started to aim for the eyes

resto hadn't said anything remotely close to any of this
the word was that he was actually holding on to his innocence (which was a lie) before he admitted to knowing that the gloves were tampered with (you'd obviously know, being a vet like resto was)

and then he goes on about the bet money on rest that panama was involved with

                all that stuff was new
it's one of the best documentaries done in such a small scale in boxing.
                drath did a tremendous job.

I saw Panama Lewis have a heart attack once at a fight and no one cared. Kind of sad, but when you mess with other's lives peole won't care much about your own.
