Default South-paw shoulder roll

How effective is this for south paws in the pocket against an orthodox fighter? We know Whitaker used it and was effective but it doesnt work that great for ortho's against southpaws.

whitaker really didn't use the shoulder roll. he always had his hands low and it was just where he kept a slight guard up. But to say he used the shoulder roll how it was intended to be used, is a reach.

I wouldn't use it for southpaw but that is just me. When I go southpaw, I am more speed oriented. While orthodox, I plant my feet and will move less. I switch hit btw.

But otherwise. It's the same as using it orthodox. The difference is, you will see the weakness of the shoulder roll almost every fight as most fighters are orthodox. Since the weakness to the shoulder roll is the opposite stance's jab and straight. You'll essentially be seeing it every fight.
