moto sasaki! lol cool name. . . why does soto never fight any of the bigger names at lightweight? i know it's not always the case that they are better, but soto constantly underachieves in opponent selection.

because none of the big name fighters want to fight Soto cause they're scared of his crippling punching power.

So, Soto has now bagan "playing possum" with his opponents by faking his performances and allowing his c-level opposition win some rounds.

he does this to try to lure the big names like Pac, JMM, EM, MAB and so many others into fighting him.

Rios called him out, but it means nothing cause Rios is a young stupid kid that does not know the danger he's facing if he fights Soto.
Soto would brutalize Rios very easily, and that would lessen the chances for Soto to get the big fights, cause he'll be more avoided than he already is.

Wrong! None of the big names want to fight him because he underperforms most of the time. He fights very well one fight and lays an egg for the next three or four (Joan Guzman, David Diaz, Gamaliel Diaz, Francisco Lorenzo II). He's a good fighter and nothing more... He's not even remotely close to the level of MAB, EM, JMM, or MP! Also, he avoided Anthony Peterson like the plague and now he's doing the same thing with Rios. Rios is super hot right now. What better way to pick up steam for your career than by beating a fighter who has all the momentum that Rios has? But Soto has turned the fight down more than once. Maybe, now that he has a different manager and is no longer with Zanfer Promotions, he'll take a high-risk/high-reward type of fight. I sure hope so. But we'll see.

None of the big names want to fight hims cause they're scared of Soto's power.

Pac avoided Soto for more than 5 years and had his brother-Bobby take the bait, while Pac ran to fight easy fights with C-level boxers Jorge Solis, and David Diaz.

Barrera turned down shot at Soto;s title last year, and had ducked Soto since 2007, and instead fought Soto's "leftovers"-Rocky Juarez, back-to-back.

Morales was also given a shot at Soto's title and turned it down for fear that Soto would brutalize him. Morales would rather fight Pac, Maidana now, than face Soto.

Marquez is scared of Soto and wants nothing to do with Soto, which is why he went on to fight his last two opponents's (Casamoyor and Juan Diaz') "leftovers"-Katsidis.

#1 WBC ranked-Anthony Peterson was given a shot at Soto's title for the Cotto-Foreman undercard in Yankee Stadium in June 2010, and Peterson turned it down.
Then Peterson was again given a shot at soto's title in Sept. 2010, and Peterson turned down that shot, to fight Rios in an elimination bout.
Now, its been more than 9 months since Peterson last fought, and no one hears him comlplain that he's not getting his due shot at Soto's WBC belt, because Peterson never wanted to fight Soto, after seeing how Soto brutalized Antonio Davis, and so many others.

Soto was robbed in the Guzman fight, cause Guzman shouldve been Disqualified for intentional low blow.
Then Guzman ran like a scared chicken for the rest of the fight.

Rios has not fought the caliber that Soto is.
Acosta, a B level boxer-puncher was whacking Rios early on.
Soto hits much harder, faster, and more accurate than Acosta, whom also ducked Soto 2 years ago, when Valero ducked Soto, Arum tried to get Acosta to fight Soto, but Acosta was afraid to fight Soto, so in came Jesus Chavez.

If Soto fights Rios now, Soto KO's Rios, then Soto wont be able to get the big fights, cause the big names will avoid him now, more than he already is.

Rios isnt not that "hot" of a property.
He hasnt been tested well.

You make some valid points and some that I don't agree with. We'll see who is right when he steps up in competition.

That previous guy is overhyping Soto, but he did try to land the big fights back in his days at Super Featherweight when he was koing everyone. Anthony Peterson who? I'm not saying Peterson is a bum, but people were hyping him like it was a foregone conclusion that he would beat both Rios and Soto, but when the going got tough, he got low blowing. Until Peterson goes to war like Soto did against Antillon, he doesn't deserve to be compared to him. And how has Soto been ducking Rios? His victory over Peterson was a title eliminator for the WBA title. I like Rios, but the guy loved calling out fighters before winning his title, however, now that he has a title of his own, he's complained about other guys calling him out.

Juan Diaz called out Rios, and Rios ducked Diaz a couple months ago.

Undeafeted Euro champion-John Murray also called out Rios, and Rios has ignored him too.

If Soto fight Rios now, Soto will KO him, and then Soto will never get the big fights he's been waiting for years, cause he'll be more feared and avoided than he already is.

looks like none of the cable/sat channels will air this fight live, outside of Mexico, but you can watch it live online at:

after Soto beats Sasaki, Soto should next fight at 140lbs and see if he can get Bradley, Khan or anyone to fight him, unless they're scared of him.

Then after 140lbs, Soto can still climb up to 147lbs and wipe-out that welterweight division. He has the power to do so.
Just cause Soto doesnt KO the 135lbers, doesnt mean he cant KO the 147lbers.
