I ask because I was on the tube watching Sanders vs Wlad, Sanders vs Vitali and Lewis vs Vitali. Then when repeaking at their records, it struck me that the two best/most accomplished fighters on Vitali's record were the two men who beat him. However that's not to say his opponents were no good.

Then in Wlad's case, I think Haye might be the best on his record in terms of a fighter at his peak, prime, physically in shape who is a dangerous champion. Then Byrd.

Mercer,hide,sanders held the WbO title when it wasnt recognized as a world title.sanders vacated it to fight vitali for vacantWBC title.wlad never won a world title until he beat chris Byrd for IBF.WBO became world title in around 2005.Brewster & wlad fought for vacant WBO title.that's when WBO started getting recognized but it's still the belt that is regarded the least.If you watch 90's WBO fight you will realize it was a regional title based out of mostly eastern Europe & Asia.when mercer,Morrison & riddick bowe won the WBO they all vacated it immediately.most WBO fights were overseas back then.most of Joe calzaghes defended were of the WBO title when it was a regional belt.it wasn't a world title.

Ray Mercer didn't "vacate it immediately" he successfully defended it against Tommy Morrison.

Riddick Bowe didn't "vacate it immediately" he defended it against Jorge Luis Gonzalez.
